Mummy's Fruit Salad

This post comes after a long time. That is because I had been to India over Christmas and New Year holidays and had lots of 'mummy ke haath ka khana'. Mummy had made all of my favorites and I photographed a few of them. Here I am posting one of my favorites since childhood - Fruit Salad in Milk. 

Ingredients:

4 cups milk
2 tablespoons custard powder vanilla flavor
4-5 tablespoons sugar
2 1/2 cups mixed chopped fruit apples, bananas and chiku - grapes optional 

Heat the milk till it reaches a boil. While the milk is heating, add sugar to milk. Separate a half cup milk from the vessel and dissolve the custard powder in it. Mix this with the rest of the batch. Bring it to a rolling boil. Check the consistency and taste of the custard milk. It should taste sweet and custardy in flavor but should not have the texture of custard. If it is as per taste, cool it. If not, repeat the custard powder step from above. When fully cooled, add the the fruits and chill. Serve chilled.

fruti salad will make the winter here seem more summery...i love this one, now days i just use evoparared milk for this...lazy me..
