Super Bowl Sunday Menu!

It's Super Sunday for all football fans. And food is a big part of the day. This is my plan for the big day...

Drinks:

Beer is the beverage of choice. Add a few sodas (Pepsi, Coke, Sprite) and you are set. Take a large cooler, fill it with ice and chill the drinks in it. This will also keep your refrigerator cooling nicely. Don't forget to get a few bottles of water too.

To fill up:

For me this has to be a buffet style spread, less work for the hosts. I would pick either fajitas or burgers. To make them game day ready...

Burgers:
Toast the buns and grill the patties. Put out all the condiments in platters. Guests can customise with their favourite condiments. French Fries or chips, your choice.
My two favourite vegetarian burgers -
Triple bean Southwestern Burger*
Barbecue Vegetable Burgers*

Fajitas*:
They follow the same rule, warm the tortillas and put all the fillings out in bowls so everyone can make their own fajita.

You can cut down this effort by ordering lots of pizza! One of the parties I had been to had barbecue - brisket, sausage, beans, bread and such. Do that if its your thing.

Desserts:

Pick an easy dessert. Either a Super Bowl sheet cake / cupcakes (around this time all bakeries have them, even Kroger and Target) or a cobbler. I had frozen custard once and that was spectacular too.
I am going for the sundae bar, get 2-3 flavours of ice-cream, one should be vanilla. For toppings the options could be:
Hot fudge sauce
Strawberry sauce
M & Ms
Chocolate chips
Brownie bits
Chopped fruit (strawberries n pineapple or even Mix fruit from a can)
Roasted salted peanuts
Roasted chopped almonds
Sprinkles

To chew on:

During the game, dips are the best option. Stock up on a few types if tortilla chips and dip away...
7 Layer dip* is a Super Bowl favourite for me but you can also go for
Guacamole*
Tomato Salsa*
Queso

Typically, it not the day to count calories but have healthier options like chopped fruit and salad depending on the crowd. Lastly make it your own - we once had a fusion potluck meal with bruschetta, mini idli's, masala corn, muffins, 7 layer and an onion dip...

Have fun and may the best team win!
